Maps of Solar Eclipses from 1960 to 1964

The total solar eclipse of February 15, 1961 was seen from France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria, and the Soviet Union.

A famous movie scene was filmed during totality. The movie Barabbas was based on the story of a Roman slave during the time of Jesus Christ. The crucifixion scene was done in a single take during the actual total solar eclipse.

The total solar eclipse of July 20, 1963 crossed the Pacific from Japan to Alaska, Canada, and Maine. The eclipse in Maine figured as a plot device in a novel by Stephen King, Gerald’s Game.
